Materials relating to growing up and attending Barkadaro Rural School in Ripley County, Mo.
Includes a book created for the 2005 reunion of the Barkadaro Rural School, located Ripley County MO., by an alumnae, Judy Hurt Fite. The book includes a history of the Barkadaro school, an alumni list, photographs (historic and of the reunion), and memories of alumni. The book also includes copies of the documents that Fite used in her research and addendums added after reunions in 2007 and 2011. Digital copies of the memory books are also available for viewing in the Special Collections and Archives reading room.
Also includes a copy of the Directory of the Public School Teachers of the Southeast Missouri Teachers Association District for the year 1934-1935 and booklet on Fite’s family, the Hustedlers. The booklet includes information on growing up in rural Ripley County through the history of the Hufstedler family. The booklet includes information on the family farm, which experienced a devastating fire in 1922, the transition of the children to living in the town of Doniphan to attend high school, then the professional lives of the siblings who went on to teach in rural schools. The booklet also includes many photographs and some diagrams.
