Scope and Contents

Ledger contains records of the income and disbursements for the Teachers College Farm, arranged in alphabetical order and by vegetable or customer. Ledger records costs for fencing, medicines for animals, want ads, milk buckets, plowing, fertilizing, spraying, picking, delivering, and also the sales of the produce to the different customers (listed individually in the book by name with a listing of their purchases beneath). There was a program in progress referred to as the Pig Club. Also included is a letter to Mr. McElreath (the Farm Superintendent) from the University of Missouri Columbia Dairy Department concerning milk and fat production and several news clippings concerning a prolific milk cow owned by the College (her milk production totaled $6478 as well as three sets of twins). The entries for Albert and Leming Halls outline all purchases of milk, eggs, chickens, cream, and produce from the College Farm for the purpose of feeding residents of the dormitories.
