Abstract

Contains materials donated by past Cape Girardeau Jaycees President Larry Essner. Essner was also a member of the Reunion Committee for the Cape Girardeau Jaycees Fabulous Follies. Materials include published editions of the Bullsheets, Fabulous Follies Programs, and an edition of “The Hot Line.” Also included are editions of the Scott County Democrat, the Bulletin-Journal, and the Concord, Supplement to Sunday Bulletin-Journal. All three newspapers are from 1974. There are also loose and boxed projector slides. The loose slides have been organized chronologically. The boxed slides have been left in their original order as created by Larry Essner and the Cape Girardeau Jaycees. Photos of various Jaycee events taken between 1972 and 1978 have been left in their original order. Events include the 1973 Junior Olympics in Cape Girardeau, various awards ceremonies, the 58th Annual Meeting of the United States Jaycees, Fabulous Follies rehearsals and events, and a fishing event for youth with mental health disabilities. There are also two Cape Girardeau Jaycees member vests. One vest was originally covered in metal pins that have been removed and rehoused (Appendix 1). The second vest features multiple patches (Appendix 2).
