Scope and Contents
This collection contains materials related to the activities of Church Women United of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and surrounding areas. It includes newspaper clippings related to the group’s four annual meetings and other projects; scrapbooks of events, including photographs, programs, letters, and newspaper clippings; meeting minutes; histories; a book; fliers; reports; correspondence; attendance records; planning guides for World Day of Prayer; and CDs. This collection is organized into 4 series: (I) Organizational Histories, (II) Meeting Materials, (III) Scrapbooks and Scrapbook Materials, and (IV) Events.

Abstract
This series contains handwritten and typewritten planning and attendance notes dating from 1942 to 1957; an attendance record book dating from 1995 to 2014; and budgets, treasurer’s reports, and listings of officers dating from 1970 to 1989. The series also includes fliers, bulletins, meeting minutes, event programs, newspaper clippings, postcard announcements, and publications dating from 1988 to 2009; and photographs from a CROP sale luncheon in 2007. The series also contains service news booklets; an order form for materials for World Day of Prayer; a leader’s guide to May Fellowship Day; hand-lettered signage; registration records for World Day of Prayer for 1949 to 1965; and some undated sign-in sheets listing the names, churches, and towns of participants. The series also contains a May Fellowship Day questionnaire from 1959; a Civil Defense Workshop flier; local church representative lists; and an overview of the Church Women United movement from 1979. Overall, the materials range in date from 1942 to 2014. The series is arranged chronologically by the earliest year of each folder.
