The families owned and operated local businesses including a mercantile company and the Bank of Campbell, and were active in local politics.

Receipts and financial paperwork of the McLain Family, Alexander McLain, David McLain, and John McLain, consisting of Alexander McLain’s pension for his service in the American Revolution, as well as a list of Alexander’s expenses, family receipts, two partial letters, and a contract for the establishment of a ferry at Crooked Creek.

Personal, business, and legal paperwork from North Carolina and Missouri. Includes product receipts from Missouri State Guard camps during the American Civil War, election results from Wayne County, Missouri, elections in 1837 and 1840, and Bollinger County, Missouri, 1857. Also included are business ledgers, legal documents, and published materials.

Correspondence, announcements, programs and publications pertaining to the festival created and sponsored by the Southeast Missouri State Teachers College at Cape Girardeau, and directed by Lealon N. Jones. Program in playwriting and acting was open to graduate and undergraduate college students in the Midwestern United States.
