Scope and Contents
Primarily consists of issues of Marquette’s newsletter Cementopics, which have articles highlighting the Cape Girardeau Missouri plant. Four issues in their entirety, April, 1951 July 1956, February 1961, and May 1962. Partial issues include articles from July 1953, June 1957, as well as other undated issues, including parts 9-13 of a series of articles entitled “History of Marquette”, which highlights the Cape Girardeau Plant’s History. Also includes a program from a June 1957 recognition dinner.

Organizational Sketch
Marquette Cement Manufacturing Company was based out of Chicago [Il] and ran plants in many states throughout the Midwest during the 1900s. Plants were located in Missouri, Ohio, Wisconsin, Iowa and other Midwestern states. The Cape Girardeau Plant was built in 1909 as the Cape Girardeau Portland Cement Company, and was acquired in 1923 by Marquette. It was the second plant owned by Marquette
