Biographical / Historical
The Little River Drainage District was formed in 1907 in order to drain the swamplands of Southeast Missouri and Northeast Arkansas. As timber was cleared and the swamps drained, entrepreneurs encouraged settlement in the newly available agricultural lands.

Abstract
Pamphlets and scrapbook advertising settlement in southeast Missouri and northeast Arkansas. The pamphlets were produced by real estate firms, Frisco rail lines, and the Southeast Missouri Agricultural Bureau. They discuss topics such as drainage, roads, climate, soil, crops, churches, schools, livestock, land values as well as contain railroad maps of the region.
