Loeffel settled in Missouri and began a family. He eventually settled in Cape Girardeau, where Loeffel ran a successful business. While working in Cape, Loeffel built a number of striking stone structures, including his own home, the Centenary Methodist Church, several buildings on Southeast Missouri State University’s campus, and many others.
