Biographical / Historical
Graysboro, Mo. was founded in 1889. The settlement was located in northeast Scott County Missouri, near the area know as Gray’s Point. Graysboro was a stop on the Cottonbelt Railroad and a depot was located there. The railroad industry was the main employer and ran the economy of Graysboro. Graysboro remained a small settlement, but may have had up to 800 people living in it in the first decade of the twentieth century. Due to problems with frequent flooding, the majority of the population of Graysboro eventually migrated further west and south into the Illmo/Scott City region.
