Organizational Sketch
The Cape Girardeau Bicentennial Commission was established on May 29, 1991, with the goals of celebrating the city’s founding (1792-1793); renewing citizen’s knowledge of their heritage; and fostering a sense of community. The Cape Girardeau Bicentennial Commission was established by the City Council after a memorandum from Kent M. Bratton, the City Planner. Four subcommittees guided the commission’s work: the historical, finance, publicity, and activities subcommittees. The Cape Girardeau Bicentennial disbanded in 1993.
