Biographical / Historical
This is a publication of the results of the Sixth Census of the United States of America. At this time (1840) there were still veterans of the Revolutionary War (as well as later wars) living in the United States and this was an attempt to make a compilation of the names and locations of these people. The 1840 census was composed of four volumes. First, the Sixth Census or enumeration of the inhabitants of the United States, second, the Statistics of the United States of America, third, a Compendium of the Enumeration of the inhabitants and statistics of the United States to which was added an abstract of each preceding census, and finally a census of pensioners for revolutionary or military services with their names, ages, and placed of residence.
