Biographical / Historical
Helen Kinney was born on February 12, 1902 in Brooklyn, New York. She became a registered nurse in 1924 and received a doctorate degree in adult education in 1951. Kinney came to Cape Girardeau in 1958 where she became the program director of nursing, and later established a state-wide pilot program for nursing education at Southeast Missouri State College. She also served as president of the Missouri Public Health Association and the Missouri State Nurses Association. Kinney retired in 1972 and passed away on January 15, 1988 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
