Biographical / Historical

Dr. Roy M. Barber attended Southeast Missouri State University from 1936 to 1938. He was drafted into the Army and fought in Patton’s Third Army as a medic. He was a part of the 7th field artillery Observation Battalion. Dr. Barber then attended medical school in Memphis, Tennessee and served as a medical doctor in Memphis until his retirement. Dr. Barber’s father was the chief construction engineer for the Baptist Student Union and his mother was a graduate of the Normal College.

Created by Dr. Roy M. Barber. Dr. Roy M. Barber contacted the Special Collections and Archives to donate the materials. The donor of the materials is Dr. Barber. Dr. Barber initially contacted Mary Langston about donating the hymnal to the Kent Library Stacks; Langston directed him to the Special Collections and Archives to donate the materials.
