Biographical / Historical
Dr. Roy M. Barber attended Southeast Missouri State University from 1936 to 1938. He was drafted into the Army and fought in Patton’s Third Army as a medic. He was a part of the 7th field artillery Observation Battalion. Dr. Barber then attended medical school in Memphis, Tennessee and served as a medical doctor in Memphis until his retirement. Dr. Barber’s father was the chief construction engineer for the Baptist Student Union and his mother was a graduate of the Normal College.

Dr. Barber initially contacted Mary Langston about donating the hymnal to the Kent Library Stacks; Langston directed him to the Special Collections and Archives to donate the materials.
