Scope and Contents

The collection contains various materials related to Jane Stacy’s career and work, including interviews and other research materials regarding the writing of her book The Athletic Hall of Fame of Southeast Missouri. Also included are photograph albums of SEMO homecomings, DVDs depicting several university events, books either written or contributed to by Stacy, newspaper clippings regarding Jane Stacy and Southeast Missouri State University, and awards given to Jane Stacy.

Biographical / Historical

Jane Cooper Stacy was born in 1938, the daughter of a Baptist minister. Stacy arrived at Southeast Missouri State University in 1956 as an incoming freshman, where she met her future husband Bill Stacy, a football star who later served as president of the university from 1979 to 1989. Bill and Jane were married in 1958, had three children together, and divorced in 1989. During their marriage, Stacy finished her degree at SEMO. In 1973, Stacy was hired to be the university’s Head of Alumni Services, a position that she would hold until her retirement in 2008. After her retirement, Stacy maintained a relationship with the university, researching and writing a book on the Southeast Missouri State Athletic Hall of Fame and the athletes who have been inducted into it.
