Contingent Fund Ledger
Scope and Contents
Records of deposits and accounts payable for the Contingent Fund for January 1 1929- March 24, 1941. The Contingent Fund contained many disparate expenses. Deposits include interest and various kinds of refunds. Accounts payable are for such items as hourly wages for individuals, as well as bills for freight, labor, plastering, hauling, envelopes, films, subscriptions, debate team expenses, truck service, public speaking expenses, fuses, meats, blue fruits (?), pedigrees, student help, padlocks, Christmas trees, and postage. Near the back of the ledger are entries for the E. F. Vaeth Special Fund, which was for things such as field house and stadium rent, gym rent, use of the swimming pool, rent of bleachers, and expenses for placing teachers, etc. There are also entries in the rear of the ledger for figures concerning the Oliver Prize Fund and salaries for faculty that are on sabbatical leave.
