Enrollment Classification and Standings Committee Ledger

 Collection — Box: 3166, Ledger: 002
Identifier: 2008.015.018

Scope and Contents

Minutes of meetings of the Enrollment Classification and Standings Committee. Most of the meetings took place during 1922-1925 before skipping to the 1933-1934 school year. Discussions centered on entrance requirements, fractional credit, and requests or recommendations concerning a change in someone’s grade. The committee discussed and resolved individual cases at these meetings. This committee also processed applications for admission for students who had failed the first semester and wanted to re-enroll for the second semester.

The loose-leaf notes for year 1929 have been placed within the ledger. On occasion, other schools were contacted in order to ascertain how they handle such problems. A typed document is pasted in showing procedures, codified in 1933, for dealing with enrollment and grade issues.

Organizational Sketch

The Enrollment Classification and Standings Committee’s task was to determine what to do in the event that a student had incomplete credits to graduate, contested his or her grades, or who felt that he or she had done college work in high school and wanted college credit for their work. The committee’s responsibility was to ensure correct matriculation.

Dean Douglas was chairman of the committee during 1922-1925; Dean Vest Myers, appointed Douglas on June 20, 1933, became chairman in 1933-1934. This committee had the power to change an individual’s grades, to decide whether or not to apply rules to certain situations, to submit resolutions to the faculty concerning curriculum requirements, and to decide whether or not they would allow a student with poor grades to enroll again.
