Each ledger contains different types of information, even though some ledgers are multi-volume sets. Each of the individual ledgers has been described below in chronological order.

Salaries of Officers, Teachers, and Janitors Volume 1: 1915 January - 1926 March Volume 2: 1926 January - 1933 January Box 3151 Ledger 002 Ledger 003 Volume one records names and titles of the various personnel, for example: Joseph A. Serena, President, J.C. Brandt, Dir. School of Music. Salary information includes check number and the amount paid per month. Also enclosed in the ledger is a loose-leaf sheet entitled “The Budget for the Biennial Period 1925-1926 Southeast Missouri State Teachers College” and a listing of course offerings “Schedule of Recitations” for Summer 1925, which began May 26 and ended July 31 1925. In addition, the ledger lists people who delivered commencement speeches and baccalaureate “sermons” and the treasurer and secretary of the Board of Regents. Volume two contains the same type of information except for different years.

Southeast Missouri State College Payroll Ledgers Volume 1: 1941-1947 Volume 2: 1947-1951 Box 3170 Ledger 002 Ledger 003 Payroll is broken down into federal and state income tax, OASI, State Teachers Retirement, A bonds, B insurance, D annuities, miscellaneous, union dues, meals, and Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Concerns payroll records for teachers, employees, and student help. Also includes a number of loose leaf lists of employees and salaries and other related notes. Included also is a letter from W. A. Parker to the Board of Regents concerning hiring several individuals, sick leave pay, Christmas bonuses, and a proposal relating to veterans educational opportunities. A letter from the Public School Retirement System concerning some deficiencies in contributions to that fund for several teachers has been inserted into this ledger.

Southeast Missouri State College Local Payroll Ledger 1970 July - 1983 September Box 3133 Ledger 002 Payroll is broken down into federal and state income tax, OASI, State Teachers Retirement, A bonds, B insurance, D annuities, miscellaneous, union dues, meals, and Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Includes a statement in the front of the ledger concerning the Southeast Missouri State College Dormitory System Revenue Bonds, 1962-1972, Series 1958, and bond and interest payments for April 1961-April 1998.
