Scope and Contents
The collection contains various materials related to Paul Frederick’s career and work, including multiple scrapbooks containing newspaper articles that featured his projects with the city of Cape Girardeau as the first city manager. Also included are some published materials that include his works or where he is mentioned, his personal poetry he has. written over the years, correspondence, as well as a photograph of himself with coworkers during a planning meeting.

Biographical / Historical
Paul F. Frederick was born in 1922 in Fargo, North Dakota. He married Marion Haakenson in 1943 in San Jose, California where they had three children, Pauline, Mary Beth, and Jon. After retiring from active duty in both World War II and Korea, he became a professional engineer after attending North Dakota State University. He was the city manager of Grand Forks, North Dakota from 1954-1957 before being city manager of Minot, North Dakota from 1958-1965. He and his family moved to Cape Girardeau, Missouri afterwards where he became the city’s first city planner from 1966-1969. He then went to Muskegon and served as city manager from 1970-1978, before retiring and moving to Columbia, Missouri where he worked at Williams and Works from 1979-1981. In 1982 he retired, and passed away on April 4, 1983.
