Biographical / Historical
Paul Stanley Bond was born in New York City on April 18, 1879. After his father died, his mother, Jane Casselly Bond, remarried and Bond took on his step-father's last name of Hamilton. He went by the name of Stanley Bond Hamilton for many years. In 1894 he attended the University of Nevada but left in 1896 to attend the United States Military Academy at West Point. He graduated in 1900, 9th in his class. He was given the rank of Second Luitenant and was assigned to the 7th Artillery Regiment. In 1913 he graduated from the Army Field Engineer School. By 1916, Bond had written two books, "Techniques of Modern Tactics" and "The Engineer in War." In 1918 Bond was in the 107th Regiment of the 32nd Division when they were sent to france to fight in the First World War. After returning home, Bond worked with his former classmate Youngberg to establish the Society of American Military Engineers. After achieving the rank of Colonel in 1929, he retired from service after nearly 30 years in the military. Bond then settled in Washington D.C. and started his own publishing company, P.S. Publishing Co. In 1932 he began writing in a series of journals. Bond was recalled to active duty during World War II to serve in the Historical Section. In June of 1954 Bond suffered a massive stroke that left him in the hospital for months until he died on January 9, 1955. He was interned with simple rites in Arlington National Cemetery.

Abstract
The Colonel Paul Stanley Bond Diary Collection was donated by Jon and Dana Lee Sander. The collection includes the diaries of Colonel Bond written between 1932 and 1952. Colonel Bond was a graduate of the United States Military Academy in 1900. He went on to serve in both World War I and World War II. The diaries feature not only his notes on events in his personal life but notes and clippings on national happenings.
