Series IV: Towosahgy Archaeological Site, 1981-1988
Consists of information gathered from Dr. Wilkie’s excavation work at Towosahgy State Historical Site. Towasahgy was previously named Beckwith’s Fort Site and is located in Mississippi County, Missouri.
Sub-Series 2: Beckwith Collection, 1981-1986
The Beckwith Collection is a previous archaeology artifact collection donated to Southeast Missouri State University in 1913 by Thomas Beckwith who gathered the artifacts from his family farm, which is now Towosahgy State Historical Site. The site is known as a Baytown (Woodland Period) occupation, but is better known as a fortified Middle Mississippian town, and is referred to by this. This subseries includes research, maps, illustrations, and reports on the Beckwith Collection.
