Hand-drawn political cartoons (12) by James, who worked for the St. Louis Star from 1920-1929, photocopies of additional cartoons by James (2), a comedic article, and a short story. Biographical information on James, a Southeast Missouri native who was a cartoonist, writer, actor, and agent, including letters and news clippings.

Abstract Architectural sketches (14) of various Missouri state hospital buildings that were funded through a state building program, as well as information on the architects and costs of these buildings. Included are buildings from Farmington, St. Louis, St. Joseph, Nevada, Fulton, Marshall, Mt Vernon, and Carrollton.
