Abstract
Consists of the unpublished typewritten and handwritten manuscripts arranged alphabetically by title. Also included are two drafts of an autobiography that date from the fall of 1941. This subseries contains Lewis’ comments on his own works, journal entries from the late 1960s and early 1970s. Abstract
H.H. Lewis was an essayist and poet from Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Greatly influenced by the struggles of farm laborers, his work focuses primarily on the social and political issues of the 1930s through the 1950s. Later in his life, Lewis developed theories about the attack on Pearl Harbor.
