Biographical / Historical
The Power Plant was built between 1948 and 1951 with additions in 1965 and 1972. Originally intended to be at the edge of the university ground and surrounded by trees, it now sits at the heart of campus. The plant has provided many services to the university over the years including electricity, hot water, radiant heat, and chilled air for air conditioned buildings. Currently, it only provides steam heat to most of the buildings on the main campus. The base of the plant has on its walls several large billboards used by student organizations to promote events.
