Biographical / Historical

The University Center was built between 1973 and 1975 to meet the demands of the rapidly growing student population of the college. The University Center contains the Student Union, lounges, a dining hall, numerous administrative offices, a large ballroom, and the university bookstore. Originally it held a bowling alley, but it was removed to make space for a large bookstore. The dining hall has been renovated multiple times, most recently in 2012 which redesigned and expanded the dining area. At over 101,000 square feet, the University Center is almost four times the size of the original Student Union in Memorial Hall. It continues to evolve to meet the needs of students.
