Scope and Contents

The bulk of the material is a Graduate Thesis Project and other materials pertaining to Mrs. Drum’s years as a graduate student at Southeast Missouri State University. Manuscripts and photographs take up the bulk of the collection with booklets and clippings comprising the rest of the collection.

Biographical / Historical

LaCretia Drum was a native of Oak Ridge, Mo., where she graduated high school in 1958. After becoming a wife and mother and working for almost 20 years in the family’s Income Tax and Accounting Service as a tax assistant, she continued her education. She graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1983. She then went on to work on her Masters in History at Southeast Missouri State University in 1988. During her years as a graduate student she was a teaching and research assistant for the History Department. She was also project director for a mini-grant for Missouri Council for Humanities. Unfortunately, shortly thereafter she passed away.

Abstract

Research materials from Drum’s graduate thesis project at Southeast Missouri State University, an historic site survey of Cape Girardeau County, which excluded Cape Girardeau and Jackson, with the exception of the Oliver House in Jackson. Includes drafts of the survey, photographs, newspaper clippings, maps, and other research materials.
