Material dates almost exclusively from the American Civil War. The collection contains correspondence received by Colonel Flad between 1861 and 1864, and in the later 1800s while he was trying to recover his pension. It has promotion notices, and muster rolls . There are notes, army passes, some sketches and maps, and password notices throughout the collection.
